Lazia, 4 March 2019 — The National Convention of 2019, the government body established after the February 2019 constitutional referendum, has ratified the Wrythe Convention in one of its first policy decisions.
The Wrythe Convention is an international treaty, originally signed on 15 September 2018 by representatives of seven micronations — the Grand Duchy of Flandrensis among them — declaring its opposition to “sockpuppeting”, identity theft and other false and fraudulent claims within micronationalism. It singles out in particular James Klaassen-White, whose repeated fraudulent claims through his “Kingdom of Catan” gave rise to the treaty in the first place.
The Confederation of Mahuset has always opposed falsification and fraud within the micronational community, maintaining an informal policy of avoiding interaction with entities suspected or proven to engage in such conduct; its decision to sign, it said, was made in solidarity with other nations standing against such actions.
