Is Lord-Mouser a real Mahusetan office?

Lazia, 29 August 2026 — A claim has circulated that the Lord-Mouser is a genuine office of the Mahusetan state and not a joke. The Courant van Lazia has examined the record.

The office rests on a decree of the Chadly Chancery of 24 May 2026, issued by Chad Lord-Stadtholder Emiel van der Huijsen. The decree styles cats serving in public office “gentlenyan” (Dutch: “edelnyan”) and it lists “The Right Honourable Gentlenyan Thor, Lord-Mouser to the Executive Office”. The same decree elevated the birthday of Lord-Mouser Thor to a national holiday. Thor is the most senior feline official of the Confederation.

An office may be whimsical in character and still be a real office of state. The style is conferred, the post is named, the holder is named and the birthday now sits in the national calendar. Photographs of the Lord-Mouser at rest remain a recurring fixture of the Confederation’s cultural coverage, and officials have not commented on whether his napping constitutes an official function — though few in Lazia appear to begrudge him the repose.
