Lazia, 25 August 2026 — A claim has circulated that the flag of the Ministry of Defence and Veterans’ Affairs bears a motto calling for the deaths of Mahuset’s enemies. The Courant van Lazia has examined the record.
The flag of the Ministry of Defence and Veterans’ Affairs carries the words “Death to all who dare despise us”. The ministry has been led since August 2025 by Chad Hasan Çakar, and six branches answer to it: the army, the navy, the air force, the space force, the cyber force and the Marechaussee. Those forces are small and largely ceremonial. Their remit, as the Confederation defines it, is to support Mahusetan interests and to defend Mahusetan territorial integrity, which amounts to seven claims totalling 36.39 square kilometres across Europe, North America and Central Asia. The state as a whole answers to a different motto: Liberty, Virtue and Competent Government.
The claim is accurate as a description of the flag. The words appear on it in the form set out above, and nothing the paper found sets them in a different light. The wording is in fact wider than the claim allows, since it names all who dare despise the Confederation rather than its enemies. It is not a statement of policy: a departmental banner is a matter of vexillology rather than doctrine. The forces beneath it are small and largely ceremonial, and their remit is limited to Mahusetan interests and Mahusetan territorial integrity. The Confederation’s own motto is Liberty, Virtue and Competent Government. On the narrow question of what the flag bears, the claim is correct. We rate it True.
