Lazia, 13 June 2026 — The Ministry of Digital Affairs has condemned the United States' decision to restrict foreign access to Anthropic's Fable 5 and Mythos 5 models, calling it "disproportionate, destabilising, and hostile to the open development of digital civilisation".
The restriction, reportedly made on national-security grounds, followed concerns that the models' safeguards could be bypassed. The ministry argued such risks should be met with "transparent safeguards, accountable oversight, and international coordination", warning that nationality-based controls treated non-American researchers as "presumptive risks". "Digital civilisation cannot be built by locking every interesting thing behind a panic button," it concluded.
