Lazia, 16 October 2016 — The first session of the Lazian Chamber has concluded successfully. Among its measures were the adoption of the metric system, free travel with Nedland, official acronyms for titles and branches, the establishment of institutes for normalisation and standardisation, heraldry, the sciences and ordnance survey, territorial expansion in Mamucium, and decisions on the recognition of Kosovo, Taiwan, Somaliland and other states.
The session was among the most productive of the Confederation’s early history, laying down much of the young state’s institutional and diplomatic architecture in a single sitting. Its measures ranged from the adoption of the metric system and free travel with Nedland to the founding of four institutes and a run of decisions on the recognition of foreign states.
Among the recognitions settled were those of Kosovo — reversing an earlier vote against — Taiwan and Somaliland, alongside a rejection of Palestine. The session set a template for the Confederation’s later legislative marathons, in which large numbers of measures were dispatched in a single day.
