President Emiel van der Huijsen ordered Mahusetan flags flown at half-staff in honour of the Apollo 11 crew member. The gesture reflected a recurring Mahusetan reverence for the space age, expressed elsewhere in the Confederation’s institute of aeronautics and its commemorations of the pioneers of spaceflight.
