Lazia, 15 May 2017 — The Confederation has announced that the government shutdown is to end by 15 August 2017. The deadline would in the event be missed by some six weeks.

The deadline was set as the Confederation sought to draw a line under a shutdown that had by then run for months. In the event it was missed by some six weeks, the shutdown finally ending on 1 October 2017 after nine months — a pause credited, despite its difficulties, with a subsequent growth in the Confederation’s membership and diplomatic reach.
