Hasanistan affirms treaty Mahuset never regarded as lapsed

Lazia, 27 August 2026 — The provisional government of Hasanistan published a declaration in the Batyr Times on 25 August. It recognises the validity of older treaties establishing diplomatic relations and mutual recognition of sovereignty with other self-proclaimed sovereign states. The Confederation of Mahuset is named on that list. The declaration holds that ratifying new treaties is unnecessary and that mutual interest in rebuilding bilateral relations has been confirmed.

From the Mahusetan side there was nothing to re-establish. The treaty of 14 May 2017, concluded on a Hasani request and drafted by Chad Lord-Stadtholder Emiel van der Huijsen, then president, has been regarded here as in force without interruption. Successive governments have acted on that basis, and in the view of Mahusetan authorities so has Hasanistan. The declaration is welcome in Lazia. It confirms a position the Confederation never treated as in doubt.

The years since are read here as the record of a working treaty. Hasanistan recognised Mahuset’s claim over Virgo, the enclave lying within Hasanistani territory, on 31 July 2020. Later that year, on 2 November, it was a founding member of the Batyr Bloc. It remains one of the bloc’s three core members, alongside Mahuset and Brennonia.

The two states are joined at the level of office-holders. Chad Hasan Çakar, the founder of Hasanistan, served as Mahusetan prime minister and holds the Mahusetan title of Deputy Lord-Grand Pensionary. Two measures this week point the same way. On 27 August the National Convention of 2019 gave Hasanistani citizens an advantage in the points-based immigration system. The same day the Joint Vetrisphere Linguistics Institute ruled that “Hasani” and “Hasanistani” are equal terms, neither of them a slur.

The declaration reaches further than Mahuset. The treaties with the Karnian-Ruthenian Empire, the Republic of Upper Shwartz Morgen Lorgen Land and the Great Kingdom of Slitronia are held valid on the same terms. A new Office of Viadalvosphere Affairs will oversee engagement with Konraq.

No formal Mahusetan response to the declaration has been announced. At the Ministry of Foreign and Batyr Bloc Affairs the view is that none is required, the treaty never having been suspended. An official there said: “There was no gap to close.” Hasanistan remains Mahuset’s closest ally, and the ordinary business between the two capitals continues unchanged.
