Lazia, 9 December 2018 — The Lazian Chamber has voted to rename the Mahusetan Institute of Otaku Culture the Mahusetan Institute of Anime and Manga, by 5 votes to 2 with three abstentions.

The renaming, passed by the Lazian Chamber, gave a more conventional name to a body reflecting the strong current of Japanese popular culture in Mahusetan life. The institute would later be among a dozen absorbed into the Mahusetan National University, and its concerns surfaced again in 2019 when its successor advised members against Netflix’s release of Neon Genesis Evangelion.
