Lazia, 1 February 2020 — The Mahusetan Intelligence Agency has named Thomas Bainbridge, Chair of the Grand Unified Micronational and King of “Hrafnarfjall”, as its principal suspect in last month’s wave of vandalism on MicroWiki, which had been falsely attributed to President Van der Huijsen and Deputy Prime Minister Hasan Çakar.
The encyclopedia was struck in January by a flood of throwaway accounts — bearing handles such as “AdammiaFan44”, “Micronations.com” and cruder variants — created to deface a range of articles, the official page of the Confederation of Mahuset among them. Both Van der Huijsen and Çakar had promptly condemned the vandalism; the agency now believes the culprit lay elsewhere.
The agency holds Bainbridge to be the hand behind a long roster of accounts, among them “GRANDCUCKOLDARMY”, “Adminsucks”, “1776ShallCommenceAgain” and a string of “AdammiaFan” variations, which not only defaced articles but filled pages — including those of Mahuset and the Sublime State of Hasanistan — with insults and with pro-EU, pro-GUM and pro-Hrafnarfjall material. It was the later editing of these accounts, backtracking on their earlier pro-GUM and pro-Hrafnarfjall sentiment, that first drew the agency’s suspicion.
The attacks on the Mahusetan and Hasani pages, the agency believes, were an act of revenge against Van der Huijsen and Çakar for jokes the two had made on MicroWiki’s official Discord server, in which they described adherents of Bainbridge’s faith, Norse Paganism, as “larpcucks” — a portmanteau of “LARPing” and “cuckold”. The president and Bainbridge have been at odds before, the former for his opposition to the Grand Unified Micronational, the latter for his efforts to fold the Konmalehth into it.
The agency further believes that the appearance in the vandalism of other notable micronationalists’ names — among them Joseph Kennedy, Edward Jacobs and Manolis Afentoulis — was an attempt by Bainbridge to cast them as the perpetrators. Reached for comment, Afentoulis said it “troubles me that someone used my name to perform such actions”, noted the oddity of implicating Jacobs, who had been absent from micronationalism since mid-2017, and called the suggestion that Kennedy was responsible “absurd”. That all three were former Ashukov officials, he added, led him to suspect “someone close to us, or an admirer of Ashukovo”, and he hoped the observation would assist Mahusetan intelligence in its search.
