Lazia, 11 April 2020 — President Emiel van der Huijsen has declared that the Kingdom of Morburn is to leave the Confederation of Mahuset, following the approval of the proposal by the members of the National Convention, on grounds of the state’s inactivity and its limited historical or cultural significance.
The Lithuanian-based micronation was founded on 21 October 2015 and displayed real activity in its day, at one point running its own virtual football league and team. It joined Mahuset on 4 September 2016 but never truly integrated, and drifted into inactivity; its sole citizen, the King of Morburn, interacted little with the wider Confederation, his most notable act being a vote against the Non-Binary Recognition Act, the most heavily defeated bill in the Lazian Chamber’s history.
With Morburn’s exit its future is uncertain, neither the state nor its head of state having shown notable activity for some time. Its removal also reduces Mahuset’s presence in Eastern Europe.
