Mamucium, 19 July 2019 — The Konmalehth has established a new Discord channel, “KommonStates: Economics”, to encourage discussion of micronational economic development and co-operation.

Created on 16 July, the channel is meant to give attention to an often-overlooked corner of micronationalism, offering a place to discuss how economies might be built into nations and how existing ones might be improved. It forms part of a wider effort to promote intermicronational co-operation, within the Konmalehth’s sphere and beyond, and so to build up a new and stronger micronational sector.

Functioning micronational economies are rare. The difficulties, as the Konmalehth sees them, tend to turn on a lack of knowledge of how to implement a system of trade, or on fears about the macronational resources such a system might require; the nearest thing most micronations have to economic policy is nominal legislation endorsing this or that model without ever implementing it. Mahuset, then chairing the organisation, has already involved itself, in the hope of developing its own economic system through the exchange of ideas and of drawing closer, economically, to its fellow Konmalehth states.
