Lazia, 14 June 2025 — The Confederation of Mahuset has joined New North Scotland, the territory established this year by the Commonwealth of Austenasia, under an arrangement that also grants Mahusetan land to Austenasia.

The territory lies near Groot-Geestmerambacht, and its proximity to Mahusetan land has been taken in Lazia as a mark of geographic as well as ideological kinship between the two states. Beswickia joined the Commonwealth in the same round of accessions, formalised earlier this month by the Austenasian government under Prime Minister and Lord-Protector Chad Andrew Musgrave.
The accessions follow the declaration of the Commonwealth of Austenasia as a framework for closer political and diplomatic coordination between Austenasia and its partner states.
The arrangement deepened a relationship that had grown notably close. Chad Lord-Stadtholder Emiel van der Huijsen holds a joint title as a Major-General of Austenasia and is known to be a close political ally of Musgrave, and the Confederation had lately drawn nearer to Austenasia, recognising the micronation of a Mahusetan minister alongside a treaty with Austenasia.
It comes in the wake of a proclamation issued by Mahuset on 3 June, in which Van der Huijsen declared full and "unassailable diplomatic support" for Musgrave. The statement, issued in English and in Dutch, affirmed the Confederation's alignment with Austenasia in matters of justice and legitimacy, and in opposition to what it called "the blight of tyranny".
In diplomatic circles the expansion is read as further evidence of an emerging alignment between the Batyr-aligned states and the restructured Austenasian Commonwealth. Mahusetan officials said consultations were continuing on cooperative initiatives in the region, including cultural exchanges and diplomatic coordination.
The new region would soon acquire the ordinary apparatus of Mahusetan administration. Under a later cross-state arrangement, the Mahusetan Police and the Marechaussee were granted law-enforcement authority in New North Scotland, resting on the Austenasian military rank of the head of state.
