The Confederation expressed its condolences following the earthquake that struck Croatia, one of a number of such messages of sympathy issued to foreign nations after disasters and bereavements. Brief as it was, the gesture reflected Mahuset’s habit of conducting itself, in its diplomacy, as a state among states.
