Lazia, 10 January 2021 — President Emiel van der Huijsen has signalled that the Confederation of Mahuset may recognise Turkish maritime claims in the eastern Mediterranean.

The president’s signal of a possible shift in the Confederation’s position in the eastern Mediterranean reflected Mahuset’s warm relations with the Turkic and Hasani world, embodied above all in its alliance with Hasanistan. Recognition of contested maritime boundaries was an unusually technical foray for the young state’s diplomacy.
