Chad Lord-Stadtholder Emiel van der Huijsen conferred the honorific on Smith, the Austenasian deputy prime minister and a Major-General of Austenasia. The grant reflected the warm and deepening relationship between the Confederation and Austenasia, with which Mahuset had recently concluded a treaty.
