Mamucium, 29 May 2019 — XO, the founder of Matsia and a co-founder of Mahuset, has confirmed to President Emiel van der Huijsen his revocation of Mahusetan citizenship, ending his involvement two days short of the Confederation's seventh anniversary.
XO, inspired by Van der Huijsen's micronation Ihuset to create Matsia, helped merge the two into Mahuset and served as prime minister in 2012, 2014 and after the 2016 reformation. He unsuccessfully challenged Van der Huijsen for the presidency in 2018, Mahuset's first democratic election, and became Leader of the Opposition, leading the Mahusetan left through the Kerindy Party, the Socialist Party and the SDP.
His departure has its roots in polarisation over issues such as LGBT rights, including the banning of Purple Friday, and came to a head when a "raid" on the official Mahusetan Discord led to a heated confrontation, after which XO left the server. His departure, and the revocation of his family's citizenships, has removed much of the Matsian population and threatened the Social Democratic Party, now reduced to a single chamber seat. The government has established the Commission of Statute on Interim Matsian Governance to administer the state, and has wished XO well, with some suggesting he may one day return.
