Mamucium, 19 October 2019 — The National Convention of 2019 has reorganised the Council of Ministers, the executive branch of the government, cutting the number of ministries from 22 to 12.

The decision was taken on 2 October and was intended to streamline the government. Some ministries were kept in their original form, others were merged, and the remainder were abolished.
The 22 original ministries were General Affairs, Home Affairs, Foreign Affairs, Defence, Economic Affairs, Finances, Infrastructure, Environment, Education, Culture, Science, Social Affairs, Labour, Justice, Health, Welfare, Sports, Art, Development, Tourism, Energy, and Immigration and Alien Affairs.
The 12 that have been kept or newly established are General Affairs, Home Affairs, Foreign Affairs, Defence and Veterans' Affairs, Economic Affairs, Finances, Infrastructure, Environment and Public Health, Education, Culture, Sport and Science, Justice, Tourism, and Immigration and Alien Affairs.
The act has also abolished the ministerial departments under several of the former ministries, among them those of Art, Health and Labour.
The reorganisation was one of a series of structural reforms carried through by the National Convention as it settled into its role as the de facto government of the Confederation.
