Institute of Aeronautics and Space backs Apollo 11 skywatching

Lazia, 14 July 2019 — The Mahusetan Institute of Aeronautics and Space has announced its support for a skywatching initiative marking the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 mission, when Neil Armstrong and Edwin "Buzz" Aldrin first landed on the Moon.

Though the lunar lander itself cannot be seen, the institute noted that the region where it touched down — Mare Tranquillitatis, the Sea of Tranquility — is visible for about half the month, best seen five to 18 days after the new moon.
