Lazia, 9 June 2017 — The Confederation of Mahuset has established diplomatic relations with four states in the course of a single day, completing a run of five treaties concluded in as many days and confirming the pace of a period of rapid Mahusetan treaty-making.

Three of the five states would later be struck off when the Confederation repealed its treaties with eight extinct nations in January 2019.

Three of the day’s four agreements — with the Kingdom of Custosia, the Independent State of Kaleido and the Popular Union of Occitania — followed requests made by Mahuset itself. The fourth, with the Florian Republic, was concluded at Florian instigation.
The week’s first settlement had come three days earlier. On 6 June the Confederation formalised its ties with the Empire of Villa Alicia in a treaty drawn up by that state’s own ruler, His Imperial Majesty Leonardo I. It was one of several such arrangements reached in the first half of 2017, a stretch in which Mahuset set about rebuilding its diplomatic network while the government remained shut down.
Not all of the arrangements endured. Custosia, the Florian Republic and Occitania each ceased to exist in the years that followed, and their recognitions were among the eight that Mahuset formally repealed in January 2019 in a single clearance of treaties with now-extinct nations. Occitania left one further trace: the tabloid “Occitanian Sun” would resurface years afterwards in Mahusetan complaints about micronational fake news.
