Lazia, 25 May 2017 — The Confederation of Mahuset has established diplomatic relations with three states in the space of three days, concluding treaties with the Kingdom of Coria on 23 May, the Federal Republic of Stravinia on 24 May and the Shorewellese Empire on 25 May.

Two of the treaties were concluded at Mahuset's own request, while the third was drafted by the Shorewellese emperor, whose empire would figure in the Spygate affair weeks later.

The first two were concluded at the Confederation’s own initiative, both Coria and Stravinia entering into relations at a Mahusetan request. They belong to a run of recognitions extended through the spring and summer of 2017 — a mid-year diplomatic drive during which Mahuset took in a considerable number of new partners.
The Shorewellese treaty stood apart, having been drawn up on the other side: it was drafted by the empire’s own ruler, His Imperial Majesty Bilal I. The document acquired an unexpected weight within weeks, when the Mahusetan head of state was accused of spying for Shorewell — an allegation the Confederation said was false — and relations with the Abeldane Empire froze altogether in the episode known in Mahuset as Spygate.
None of the three recognitions proved lasting. Coria, Stravinia and Shorewell each ceased to exist, and all three were among the eight now-extinct nations whose treaties the Confederation formally repealed in January 2019, voiding the recognitions granted in these three days.
