Lazia, 14 January 2016 — The Confederation of Mahuset has established diplomatic relations on two successive days, first with the United Islands on 13 January and then with the Kingdom of Ruthenia on 14 January. Neither treaty was sought by the other party: both were concluded following a Mahusetan request.

Both treaties were concluded at Mahuset's own request, and the text agreed with the United Islands was drafted by President Emiel van der Huijsen himself.

The text agreed with the United Islands was the work of President Emiel van der Huijsen, who drew up many of the Confederation’s earliest treaties himself.
The Kingdom of Ruthenia, for its part, was among the first states to enter into relations with the Confederation, which was then only days old.
Both recognitions belong to the series of treaties concluded in Mahuset’s first weeks — an early flurry of treaty-making through which the newly founded state set about building a diplomatic network within the micronational community and establishing itself among its peers.
