National Convention consolidates its law commissions

Lazia, 4 December 2021 — The National Convention of 2019 has merged its many single-subject Commissions of Law — covering administrative, contract, criminal, property, international and a score of other fields — into a single National Convention of 2019 Advisory Legal Commission, and has consolidated its Commissions of Statute into a handful of combined bodies.

Dozens of single-subject Commissions of Law — covering administrative, contract, criminal, property and international law, among many fields — were merged into a single Advisory Legal Commission, and the Commissions of Statute similarly combined. The consolidation reflected the scaling-back of the National Convention’s original, ambitious remit to draft a full suite of legal codes, a project it would formally abandon in 2026.
