Lazia, 16 October 2016 — The Mahusetan Institute for Heraldry, Arms and Vexillology (Dutch: Mahusetaans Instituut voor Heraldiek, Wapens en Vexillologie) has been established, responsible for creating, granting and registering arms, flags and banners.
The institute was made responsible for creating, granting and registering the Confederation’s arms, flags and banners — a portfolio taken seriously in a state much occupied with its own symbols. It was later reconstituted, its heraldic functions passing in 2022 to the Mahusetan College of Arms, while its vexillological work produced designs including a dog-friendly flag and successive Matsian ensigns.
